The course objective is to introduce course students to basic knowledge necessary to conduct Internet-videoconferences, and to provide practical skills allowing utilize videoconferencing for personal communication and small business practices. Combination of theoretical and practical aspects of the training will help participants apply videoconferencing to more advanced projects. Major course topics include sound and video encoding; sound and video transfer via Internet; and videoconference types. Course participant will also learn about videoconferencing equipment and software, including NetMeeting, and will gain understanding of how to conduct videoconferences. The students will get the information about standards and technical requirements for equipment to be used, channels of communication, and basic software. Most of the virtual training is built on exercises that help to develop students’ skills in facilitating videoconferences. The course includes an archive of the samples of educational videoconferences conducted by IATP and their partners in the past three years.
