Until recently, intellectual property rights protection (copyright law, related rights, industrial design) was not a major issue for the majority of people. However, new digital technologies allowing for much easier copying and faster information dissemination increased the number of people concerned about the IPR protection. Consequently, today we experience many problems with the old IPR legislation, which primarily stipulated cases of non-digital information distribution. The course provides understanding of major aspects of intellectual property rights, IPR institutions, and legislation acts regulating IPR and Internet. The course will also examine IPR protection mechanisms, and teach how to avoid intellectual property infringements.
