Course outline: The course is directed at individuals applying and/or interested in applying Internet in their professional research related to various educational fields. Research may be conducted for academic or business projects, and self-education. Specific field of education is of no importance, since the course covers common Internet research methods. The course aims to develop in-depth understanding of necessary knowledge and skills allowing participants to use Internet most efficiently in their professional research. The course focuses on developing hands-on skills to work with Internet resources. Participants will gain comprehensive knowledge of Internet search techniques, obtain skills necessary to work with public and commercial databases, familiarize with e-libraries, and extend understanding of Internet resources citation and description. The course offers practical assignments allowing participants to evaluate their newly acquired knowledge and skills. Each section of the course provides tests and hands-on assignments. Course requirements: participants should have basic knowledge of Internet browsers, Internet structure, domain system, and widespread Internet terminology.
